And the most-used word of the German youth in 2010 is…

It’s official. The young people of Germany have created it. Someone else said it was most famous. And both groups are not the same. Which leads to the question if the word “Niveaulimbo” really is the word of 2010.

While you’re still trying to understand the last sentence, I present a translation of the word. “Niveaulimbo” means the lowered intellectual level during small-talk, on TV or in a book. If young people read books at all. “Limbo” comes from the famous dance. “Niveau” means “level”.

The second famous word, by the way, is “Arschfax”. Well, “Arsch” is (psst) “ass”. Fax is fax. The word describes the phenomenon of a visible underwear-label.

On spot number 3 we have the word “Egosurfen” or “egosurfing”. It describes the process of googleing yourself.

Any better words? Or other words from west of the Atlantic?
