This a news round-up on what has happened on and off-mainstream on both sides of the Atlantic – in March 2012.

1. Shannon Airport is located near Limerick, Ireland and the last stop before the Atlantic. A very interesting report on the things that just happen there by Judith Crosbie.

“Transatlantic flights’ last-chance saloon” (by Irish Times, March 19, 2012)

2. “Slab City: the last free place on Earth […] It was dusk when I arrived in the desert enclave near Niland, Calif.” Words by Arkasha Stevenson about an obscure place west of the Atlantic.

“Slab City: Utopia or open-air prison” (By LA Times Framework, March 27, 2012)

3. On January 21, 2012 Laura Dekker from the Netherlands had reached the Island of Sint Maarten to complete her circumnavigation after her departure from Sint Maarten on January 20 2011.
