French artist JR is the 2011 TED Prize winner. TED stands for Technology, Entertainment and Design. More about TED here and in our earlier story about it. JR stands for large-format street “pastings”. As he says, he owns the biggest art gallery in the world. The street.
Winning the TED Prize JR started a global art project (INSIDE OUT) for people to show and share their untold stories. Pieces of their personal identities and pieces of art too. In the meantime more than 120,000 people have joined. You wanna do it as well?
Also check out a trailer for a documentary about the project. As the producers say “this fascinating documentary tracks the evolution of the world’s largest participatory art project, the wildly popular “Inside Out.” Travel the globe with French artist JR as he motivates communities to define their most important causes by pasting giant portraits in the street, testing the limits of what they thought possible.”
