PHOTO-REPORT: Boogie-Woogie – Jens Wimmers Boogie Trio on stage

It’s very warm outside as the Jens Wimmers Boogie Trio enters the stage for their Cologne show. A few minutes later the ancient Chapel heats up, too. As the band from Nuremberg plays Boogie-Woogie from the 1920s.

The music that was made popular in the bars and clubs of New York City and Chicago. Oftentimes performed by African American musicians from the southern states and rooted in the Blues-music of the same area. From Big Joe Turner to Mead Lux Lewis.

The Jens Wimmers Boogie Trio: Jens Wimmers – Piano and Vocals. Alexander Spengler – Upright Bass. Klaus Bleis – Drums and Stepdance.

To get into the mood of dancing and clapping along, check out the song below. It’s Big Joe Turner’s “Shake It And Break It” as covered by Charlie Patton. And it was the fourth song by the Jens Wimmers Boogie Trio on this evening.
