Social protest, music, carnival and labour protests. Photos from Cologne, Germany, taken back in the 1970s and 1980s. And now brought together for an exhibition as part of the photoszene festival. An annual photography festival in town.
Showcased at Atelierzentrum Ehrenfeld in the northern parts of the town, a former workers district, the exhibition highlights general movements of the time with local events. Such as the occupation of an old chocolate factory. Today parts of the factory are a place for cultural events.
Other photographs show how foreign workers work and protest for better wages at the local Ford production plant.
The exhibition is still open for the public – closing on October 2nd, 2016. Re-opening for one day events on October 23 and 29.
